The Altamonte Springs Railroad Station, earlier known as Snow Station, and the horse drawn trolley were very important factors in the success of the Altamonte Hotel. It was one of the first stops on the railroad from the Sanford Steamer Dock to Orlando. The railroad station was approximately ½ mile west of the Altamonte Hotel and the trolley was used to transport visitors. The trolley was called the Dixie Flyer and the horse's name was Dixie. Basswood clapboard was used along with luan plywood in the construction of the model. This model was built entirely by the use of old photographs and is also on display at the Altamonte Springs Library, Altamonte Springs, FL.
